Arabian Pipes Company (APC), a Saudi joint stock company, is the largest manufacturer of medium range High Frequency Electric Resistance Welded (HF-ERW) steel pipes in the Middle East, providing high quality products, backed by a reliable and efficient service.
APC started its commercial production in 1996 to meet the growth of demand in several sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, industrial, agricultural and construction. Within a short period of time, APC became the major supplier of HF-ERW steel pipes in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
The company’s ERW manufacturing facility, which is located in Riyadh, is capable of producing pipes with outside diameter of 6”-20” (168.3mm-508.0mm), under a comprehensive production and quality programme that qualified it to obtain monogramming license from the American Petroleum Institute (API) for producing line pipes (5L) and casing pipes (5CT), as well as ISO 9001 certification for the design and manufacture of HF-ERW pipes.
Pipes for sour/non-sour environments fall within APC’s range of supply, as well as Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) casing pipes. Annual ERW production exceeds 160,000 metric tonnes per year. In 2007, APC reached its one-millionth-tonne-mark of deliveries of high quality piping products to various destinations worldwide.
APC is also capable of providing external anti-corrosion coating services for Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE), Three Layer- Polyethylene (3LPE) and Polypropylene (3LPP) applications. More than five million feet of coated pipes found its way to various leading local and international oil and gas companies.
A threading and coupling line has recently been installed to provide added end-finishing services to OCTG casings.
APC further enhanced its capability of supplying a wider spectrum of sizes by adding Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded (LSAW) pipes into its product range. The Jubail LSAW mill, capable of producing in excess of 300,000 tonnes per annum, started its production of 16”-48” (406.4mm-1219.0mm) diameter steel pipes with wall thickness of up to 1”. Civil works are currently underway on APC’s Spiral Arc Welded (SAW) plant, as well as another anti-corrosion facility with expanded capabilities, in Jubail.
A key factor for the company is its rigid application of quality control procedures, at every level, both in production process and management operations.
APC has installed the latest generation of manufacturing and testing equipment to meet the strictest international and customers’ standards, including the Saudi Aramco SAMSS and Shell DEP Standards. APC has since been registered with, and consistently listed in the approved and preferred vendors list of numerous major oil companies.
Staff training is essential to keep all aspects of the company’s operation working to peak efficiency at all times, and to maintain a high standard of service to its customers.
APC utilises a state-of-the-art integrated information system and the latest in pipe handling and storage methods. A well-organised logistics scheme is in place that ensures effective stockyard management and control of pipes of varying specifications and sizes, as well as an efficient delivery service.
All of these resources make APC truly a world class mill that supplies lifelines to the future.
