Background
Saudi Aramco plans to develop a gas processing plant at the Midyan non-associated gas field. The plant will be built in Tabuk.
The aim of the project is to reduce the burning of crude oil for power generation in the northwest of the kingdom in the summer months. Upon completion, the production capacity of the non-associated gas field is expected to reach 75 million cubic feet per day (cfd) of natural gas and 4,500 barrels per day (bpd) of condensates.
Project status
Jan 2013: Companies have submitted their bids for the EPC contract. An award is expected in April 2013.
Project scope
The scope of the project involves the development of non-associated onshore Midyan gas field to produce 75 million cubic feet per day (cfd) of gas and 4,500 barrels per day (bpd) of NGL condensate for a period of 20 years. The output will be transported by pipeline to a power plant in the coastal town of Duba that is 135 kilometres to the southwest of the field.
