ENDRESS+HAUSER, a global leader in measurement instrumentation, services and solutions for industrial process engineering, employs more than 10,000 personnel across the globe. It generated net sales of 1.7 billion euros ($2.32 billion) in 2012.
Endress+Hauser supports its customers to optimise their process engineering procedures while taking into consideration reliability, safety, economic efficiency and environmental protection. The group is managed and coordinated by a holding company in Reinach, Switzerland.
Sixty years after its foundation, the measurement engineering specialist – Endress+Hauser still continues to expand. Its production centres in 11 countries meet customers’ needs and requirements quickly and effectively while the company-owned sales centres and a network of partners guarantee competent worldwide support.
Endress+Hauser started operations in the Middle East region in 2006 as a branch of Endress+Hauser Instruments International focused on regional support and development. Over the past years, it has grown and has dedicated resources for sales, service, marketing and project support for the region.
“We fulfilled our primary goal to ‘support the region from the region’ by opening Endress+Hauser sales centres in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE,” says Prasanth Sreekumar, head of marketing – Middle East. Its Qatar office in Doha has been operational since 2009; Saudi Arabia office started operations in 2012 with head office in Al Khobar and branch offices in Riyadh and Jeddah. This year it started operations in the UAE as a sales centre with offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
In terms of the industries, Endress+Hauser focuses on oil and gas, petrochemicals and water / waste water market segments. “Our products and solutions are well accepted by major end-users in the region and our installed base has constantly increased over the past years. Our dedicated service organisation supports during the installation, commissioning and life-cycle of our devices,” says Sreekumar.
Endress+Hauser has always been the technology leader with best-in-class products and solutions to cater critical and challenging applications in the process industry. Its research and development (R&D) in Europe has strived to keep up the market pace in terms of technology and innovation.
“The number of patents and patent applications explains the technology superiority attached to us,” he adds.
Over the past years, the company has come out with number of product innovations and few of them are listed below:
Efficiency of digital sensor technology: The Memosens pH sensor technology eliminates all of the problems encountered with conventional analogue measurement such as moisture ingress and corrosion by sending a digital signal between the sensor and the transmitter. The inductive connection between the sensor and cable using a simple bayonet lock makes the Memosens sensor independent of all environmental factors. Thanks to the patented Memosens transmission technology, the problems of moisture ingress and corrosion are totally eliminated for the first time in pH measurement.
Next Generation Level Instrumentation: Endress+Hauser researched deeply on interface application and came with innovative idea of sensor fusion technology, first time in process industry which will provide better performance for interface measurement applications compare to all existing technologies.
The sensor fusion technology combines two different technologies in single instrument. Guided radar and capacitance technologies are fused in one device and getting advantage of each technology from single device. The two technologies were chosen because of capacitance technology proven track record performance with emulsion layers and Guided radar performance for over all precise level.
World’s first 14-inch diameter, 4-tube high accuracy Coriolis flowmeter: Endress+Hauser has launched the first large four-tube Coriolis flowmeter in the world. The 14-inch diameter flowmeter is ideal for measuring the mass flow, density and temperature of Hydrocarbons and other fluids in large pipes at rates up to 720,000 barrels per day (bpd) with extreme accuracy and precision. The Promass X, provides the best accuracy of any flowmeter for custody transfer on oil and gas lines ensuring that both the buyer and the seller know exactly how much is changing hands. The Promass X is suitable for custody transfer applications, featuring MI005, OIML R117 approvals.
Asset Information Tool (W@M): As a global leader in measurement instrumentation and process automation, Endress+Hauser’s W@M – life cycle management provides a flexible and open information management concept. W@M Portal and W@M Enterprise assist to advance the data flow and to manage technical and operational information of the plant – completely, conveniently, and at any time or place.
In addition to our field instruments portfolio, it also supports the following solution segments:
Tank gauging solution with radar / servo technology: state-of-the-art Web based tank Inventory management system offers unique benefits.
Tank overfill prevention system: Endress+Hauser Vibrating Fork Type Level switch fulfills requirements of functional safety SIL3 to IEC 61508. Also offers proof testing intervals up to 12 years.
Fluid management solution: The company offers complete flow metering solution which includes design, engineering, manufacturing and integration. It offers complete solution for standard mechanical meter replacement projects to pipe line metering solution with Coriolis as the flow technology.
Wireless products: Endress+Hauser’s wireless portfolio comprises the WirelessHart Fieldgate, the WirelessHart Adapter as well as DTM, DD, HART OPC Server and Modbus communication to ensure that the network can easily be integrated into a modern process automation infrastructure.
“The Middle East region is one of the key market segments for us and Endress+Hauser will continue to invest in the region in the coming years. Our primary goal is to be closer to our customers and support them as a partner all along the life cycle of the plant with our products and solutions,” concludes Sreekumar.
