Acwa Power is preferred bidder
DUBAI: A consortium led by Saudi-based Acwa Power and Tecton Engineering and Construction has emerged as the preferred bidder for a 45 million gallons per day independent sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination water project in the UAE emirate of Umm Al Quwain.
The appointment of the preferred bidder by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) follows a tender exercise and evaluation of bids.
Fewa will now commence a final round of contract discussions with a view to achieve the financial close and ancillary documents within the third quarter of 2018, said a top official.
Dewa starts15 substations
DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has commissioned 15 132/11 kV substations as of May 20 at a total cost of Dh1.73 billion ($471 million), supporting the ambitious national development plans.
The substations are located in Salal, Saih Al Shuaib, Expo 2020, Warsan 1, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, Palm Jumeirah, Al Markad, Nad Al Hammar, Business Bay and Zabeel 2.
UL-GCC Lab wins top award
DAMMAM: Gulf Renewables Lab, a UL-GCC joint venture based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, has received a special award for its innovative and forward-thinking initiatives.
The joint venture was commended due to its direct alignment to the Saudi Vision 2030 strategy to diversify its economy and ensure sustainability.
Global safety science organization UL is headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, US. Its regional base operates out of offices in Dubai and its new, state-of-the-art lab facility in Abu Dhabi.
