French major Total will begin a full seven-week shutdown of its 156,000 barrels per day Mardyck refinery in France on September 10, a company source said.
“All the refinery units will shut for work,” the source said. A source familiar with the refinery operations had previously said the work was expected to begin in the third week of August.
The shutdown has affected Total's August export flow to the US as the refiner has built gasoline stocks to cope with domestic customer needs during the shutdown.
The plant produces about 120,000 tonnes of European-grade gasoline per month. It is one of the three Total refineries in northwest Europe geared to exporting gasoline to the United States.
