Japanese chemical manufacturer Tosoh Corp said that it would start recycling waste naphtha early next year to deal with the rising cost of the raw material.

The company will invest 650 million yen ($5.92 million) to install the necessary equipment at its plant in Yokkaichi, to recycle the waste naphtha, which remains after petrochemical synthesis.
The recycled amount would be equivalent to about five per cent of the company’s total annual naphtha consumption.
“Plants have to be flexible (to adapt to naphtha prices) to continue production in changing economic situations,” said Tosoh spokesman Etsuya Ikeda.
