Adnoc employees vital to Group’s plans

The most important contributor to the success of the Adnoc Group of Companies is each and everyone of the employees who devoted a portion of their career, or in many cases, their entire career, to the oil and gas business in Abu Dhabi, says Ismail Al Ramahi, Manager Gas Processing Division Adnoc.

"It is no secret that revenue from the oil and gas business has provided the basis for growth and development of the UAE. The vast majority of the GDP will continue to be derived from these oil and gas assets in the future," he added.
Al-Ramahi was speaking at a technical seminar on Asset Integrity and Reliability Management System (AIRMS) at the Adgas Auditorium.
The event was organised to discuss the implementation of AIRMS in Adgas and Gasco, with support of the industry shareholders and technical experts.
Those who attended the one-day seminar were Rashid Saif Al Jarwan, Adgas General Manager and Mohammed Sahoo, Gasco General Manager, and representatives of the participating companies including Adnoc, Adgas, Gasco, BP, Total, Mitsui, Shell, Partex Oil and Gas and DNV (Danish Norske Veritas).
Referring to assets integrity, Al Ramahi said, "People design, construct and operate gas facilities at Gasco and Adgas. Many of them are here in this room, and will all benefit from the safe operation of the facilities.
"Integrity and reliability, therefore, are more than just numbers on a chart. AIRMS is equated with improved working and living conditions for employees, by employees.
"The current state of inspection and maintenance in Adgas and Gasco is very good, and I want to commend each and everyone of you in this room for the efforts you have put into successful operations over the past years. But there is always room for improvement," he noted.
Al Ramahi said AIRMS is a "comprehensive management system to ensure we are doing all the right work. It moves integrity from the calculation of failure to a forward-looking preventive identification. Reliability becomes a concept of discussion from design through operation and into root cause analysis of shut-down events. Management commitment is also proactive".
Al Ramahi thanked all those involved in organising the seminar. "I would like to thank the Adgas management, in particular Rashid Saif Al Jarwan and staff, for hosting the event. I would like to thank the Gasco management, especially Mohammed Sahoo and his staff, for their participation and help. I would also like to thank the Adnoc administration and the Gas Processing staff for coordinating the seminar."
Al Jarwan welcomed the guests and thanked Adnoc E&P for organising the event. "I am sure you will all agree with me on the importance of this subject for our industry, especially here in Abu Dhabi," he said.
"We operate a large base of complex plants and facilities, most of which are getting old and have started to suffer from fatigue, harsh weather and symptoms of ageing. As such, sustaining plant reliability and integrity is of paramount importance to ensure continuity of supply without harm to people, plant and the environment," he said.
Al Jarwan stressed that Adgas being a pioneer in LNG industry in the Middle East is committed to people, environment, and assets, while "maximising production efficiently and reliably, as we continue to supply the world market with oil, gas and processed products, we must not lose sight of the risks involved in our operations".
He highlighted some of the initiatives undertaken by Adgas to safeguard and upgrade its assets. These included the Plant Integrity, Reliability, and Recertification (PIRR) project, which was launched in 2000 and was completed successfully, and a robust HSE management system "which would help us address the dynamic nature of our organisation and activities in a continuously-evolving environment".
"I am confident that with the active support of our shareholders and the cross learning of such seminars, we will build upon the success of our endeavours in integrity and reliability to have an effective and sustainable system addressing the welfare of Adgas workforce and business requirements of the shareholders.
"This will continue in parallel with making major contribution to the prosperity of our country, the UAE, under its wise leadership," he said in his concluding remarks.
Later, Sahoo addressed the gathering and urged all those present to benefit from the seminar, in order to gain on insight into the best practices in several key areas of asset integrity and reliability. "Our challenge will then be to develop and apply these practices across our sites," he said.
A number of technical papers were later presented by senior staff of the participating companies, with the opening morning presentation made by Abdulla Matar Al Zaabi, Integrity and Quality Manager, whose paper was titled 'Implementing Asset Integrity and Reliability Management System'.
