THE next generation of Saudis will be more environmentally aware, thanks to an educational initiative by Saudi Aramco’s Environmental Protection Department (EPD).

The “train-the-trainers” programme is part of a comprehensive programme developed in cooperation with the Directorate of Education in the Eastern Province. It targets teachers and activities coordinators in elementary schools and aims to raise environmental literacy and enhance knowledge and awareness by providing teachers and students easy access to information on environmental issues.
In Saudi Aramco and EPD community outreach programmes, children learn the value of a clean environment through such activities as recycling. Under a “train the trainers” programme, EPD hopes to make environmental awareness an ever growing mindset among children growing up in Saudi Arabia.
“The programme is part of the Environmental Protection Department’s awareness strategies to fulfill the intent of the corporate values of stewardship and citizenship, and is a reflection of Saudi Aramco’s social responsibility,” says Hesham A. Al-Musaiid, EPD manager.
