Green ... supporting the oil and gas industry

Oil and gas training provider Survivex has announced a record number of Opito accreditations

Survivex, which provides offshore survival, industrial skills and fire fighting training courses to the offshore industry, now holds the most Opito accreditations for a single training location anywhere in the world.

Speaking from the facility in Dyce, Aberdeen, CEO Andrew Green says: "Our operations team have worked tirelessly since we opened in 2011 to gain approvals from various governing bodies, and with our market being largely oil and gas, Opito has obviously been a major focus of ours. We aim to be market leaders in our field and we believe that this goes towards demonstrating our commitment to setting standards and towards improving health and safety records across the industry as a whole".

The road to accreditation began in 2011 with a range of approvals for offshore survival, banksman slinger and rigger training. This was followed by the full suite of offshore and helideck emergency response courses throughout 2012-13. More recently Survivex has added Control of Work for Performing Authorities, LOLER Competent Person and Authorised Gas Tester Levels 1 to 3 to the course list.

Opito is not the only accreditation organisation that has awarded approvals to the training provider. Survivex also counts the British Accreditation Council (BAC), Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as well as HSE and SQA plus others among its certifying agencies.

Green continues, "We’re here to support the industry where we can. It was at Survivex that the pilot course for Opito Escape Chute training was held and we continue to be the only centre in Scotland to offer this particular course. We also hosted the Opito CA-EBS pilot course".

"And it doesn’t stop here. Our team are constantly working on further approvals and on expanding our course portfolio. We’ve achieved all these accreditations in less than four years. We’re committed to delivering to the specific needs of our customers and developing a safe environment in which everyone can operate. We will continue to work with Opitio and other industry bodies to raise training and competency standards and we look forward to achieving many more accreditations along the way."

Survivex is a leading provider of health and safety training services to the global oil and gas industry. Its core objective is to provide realistic, convenient and quality training delivered to industry recognised standards.

It is based within a multi-million pound training facility in Dyce, Aberdeen. The centre represents an investment in the industry and an investment in safety, competency and performance.
