The oil and gas recruiter bucks market trend with substantial growth of 30 per cent increase in gross profit in the first quarter of 2015 and three-fold growth in its headcount over the last 12 months
Petroplan, the global recruiter for the oil, gas and energy industry, is celebrating a record period of growth in Scotland. Despite the current market downturn, the company is on track to achieve a 30 per cent gross profit increase in the first quarter (Q1) 2015, compared with the same period last year. Petroplan’s headcount has grown more than three-fold over the last 12 months and the company now has a team of 11 staff operating from Aberdeen and Glasgow.
Kenny Dooley, regional director at Petroplan comments: "As we move into our tenth year of operations in Scotland, our team is going from strength to strength. Our success in the Aberdeen market has enabled us to tap into Glasgow’s rich talent pool to service the growing demand for skilled personnel in the city’s burgeoning energy sector.
"We now have an established presence in Scotland, offering clients specialist local knowledge supported by a global network and 40 years’ heritage in the sector."
As part of a company-wide strategy, Petroplan has diversified its service offering by appointing industry experts to lead the candidate search for each of its core disciplines – commercial, drilling, engineering, IT and marine.
This move has proven highly successful, resulting in a rapid rise in client demand over the last 12 months. Petroplan’s client base has increased by over 200 per cent in Scotland alone and the company is currently servicing over 40 contracts in the region.
Dooley continues: "This growth is testament to the team’s unrivalled commitment and in-depth understanding of the sector, and our ability to source quality candidates for both permanent and contract roles. Despite the current downturn, continued investment in our own talent will enable Petroplan to offer valuable services to support organisations taking a long-term view. Combined with our strong regional presence, this places us in a unique market position and means we are well-placed to support clients and candidates in this challenging environment."
Meanwhile, the global oil, gas and energy recruitment specialist, is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its London office launch. The London hub, which serves as a centre of excellence for the company, currently supports a team of 25 consultants, delivering global recruitment services for a number of specialist disciplines. Following a highly successful 12 months, the headcount of Petroplan’s London hub is expected to surpass 30 this year.
"Our investment in the London office is fundamental to Petroplan’s global growth strategy, which has been realised by our success over the last 12 months," comments Andrew Speers, managing director, Petroplan. "There is a significant pool of skilled and experienced recruiters in our capital, and harnessing this talent will be crucial as we continue to expand our business."
From its London hub, Petroplan supports clients globally by recruiting for a number of specialist disciplines, including engineering, marine, subsea, subsurface, and drilling and wells. This also extends to broader functions such as commercial, HSEQ, project management and supply chain.
"We strive to make Petroplan a great place to work and this is a significant driver for the way we do business. Petroplan is not your typical recruitment company – we invest heavily in our talent and as a result we have a global network of highly motivated teams with unique sector knowledge," continues Speers.
Jon France, regional recruitment manager, Petroplan, adds: "Despite global market challenges, our outlook for this year remains positive. Our gross profit target is 30 per cent more than last year and based on activity in Q1 we are already on track to hit this quarter’s gross profit target, paving the way for a successful remainder of 2015. Recruitment businesses and employers with a long-term view are continuing to invest in people. This is an opportunity for organisations to upskill their workforce and secure the best possible talent for the future."
