Global shipping and energy services firm, The Craig Group, has appointed two directors to its main board — the first new appointments to the board since 1997
David Currie, managing director of the Craig Group’s division Seatronics, which specialises in the rental and sale of high-tech subsea survey equipment, and David Allan, managing director of oilfield procurement division, Craig International Supplies (CIS) join the main board this month.
David Currie joined the Craig Group in 1999, when Scantron Ltd — the company where he was joint owner — was acquired by the group to form Seatronics.
Formerly business development director for Seatronics, Currie became managing director in 2003. He has 22 years experience in the subsea equipment rental business. Seatronics employs 60 people with a turnover of £12 million.
CIS was formed in 1998, when the Craig Group acquired DIC, run by David Allan, and merged the businesses with their existing procurement service. CIS has grown rapidly, particularly overseas, from a turnover of £4 million ($7.66 million) in 1998 to its current turnover of £17 million.
The division employs 32 people.
Allan has 26 years experience in the
oilfield supply business.
Group managing director, Douglas Craig, said, “The board is delighted to welcome both directors. They bring with them many years experience and technical knowledge, which will make a valuable contribution to the board.”
He said, “Increasingly, we are seeking synergies between our divisions and having the directors of our key divisions on the board will ensure that we make decisions based on the bigger picture of services and products the group can offer both in the North Sea and internationally. “The Craig Group has over 70 years of strong maritime heritage and tradition but key to our growth is our ability to adapt and innovate.”
