The Oman Petroleum and Energy Show (OPES) 2025 returns with a renewed vision to drive critical conversations around energy transition, decarbonisation, and sustainable development.
With a focus on innovation and collaboration, OPES 2025 aims to catalyse growth across Oman’s energy sector while reinforcing the Sultanate’s position as a regional leader in sustainability and economic diversification.
This year, OPES will be held under the theme, ‘Navigating the Energy Transition through Innovation in Oil and Gas’, alongside Oman Sustainability Week (OSW) which adopts the theme, ‘Sustainable Growth – Balancing Progress and Preservation’.
Organised by Oman Exhibitions Organizing Company (CONNECT) and held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, both events will take place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat from May 11 to 15, 2025.
OSW and OPES are closely aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040, supporting the country’s strategic aims for sustainability, energy efficiency, and economic resilience.
OPES 2025 is expected to welcome more than 30,000 visitors from over 50 countries, making it one of the largest energy gatherings in the region.
Over 350 exhibitors representing more than 30 nations will showcase their latest technologies and services across the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
The event will also feature over 2,400 delegates and 500 expert speakers participating in a series of conferences, workshops, and technical sessions, fostering a vibrant environment for knowledge sharing and strategic partnerships.
A diverse range of topics will be explored throughout OPES and OSW, including decarbonisation, energy transition strategies, climate change, operational efficiency, digital transformation, and the development of green hydrogen.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) will organise the highly anticipated technical conference at OPES, providing a critical platform for the discussion of enhanced recovery methods, carbon capture technologies, and sustainable oil and gas practices.
Additionally, the free-to-attend OPES Talks series will feature visionary discussions by global thought leaders, policymakers, and CEOs addressing key challenges and future opportunities in the energy sector.
New for 2025, the ‘Hydrogen and Utility Talks’ will delve into the role of hydrogen in sustainable energy and explore strategies for utility sector transformation.
Oman Sustainability Week 2025, co-located with OPES, will spotlight the Sultanate’s leadership in promoting resilience in water management, environmental protection, and climate action.
The International Sustainability Resources and Technology Conference (ISRTC), curated by The Economist, will gather global experts to discuss pathways towards a net-zero future.
OSW will also feature initiatives such as OSW Talks, the OSW Future Mobility Showcase–supported by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology–and OSW site visits, providing real-world insights into Oman’s landmark sustainability projects.
Additionally, the OSW Awards will recognise outstanding achievements in eco-mobility, environmental stewardship, and ESG excellence.
Emerging industry talent will be spotlighted, with the National Young Professionals (NYP) platform offering career development sessions and interactive engagements to foster the next generation of leaders in energy and sustainability.
C-level roundtables at OPES will further facilitate high-level discussions among government officials, executives, and industry experts on strategic imperatives like achieving affordable, reliable energy while meeting decarbonisation goals.
The support for OPES and OSW 2025 has been robust, with leading organisations such as Petroleum Development Oman, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, OQ, BP Oman, Shell Oman, Gulf Energy, and many others acting as sponsors.
Their backing reflects a collective commitment to innovation, sustainability, and Oman’s long-term development goals.
