Haris Al-Afaq was first established in the United Arab Emirates at the mouth of the Arabian Gulf and started operations in 1968.

It was given the status of a Limited Liability Company by Special Amiri Decree of HH the Ruler in 1969.
The name 'Haris Al Afaq' in Arabic means 'Guardian of the Horizon' and the mission of the company is to 'seek out the customer, determine his needs and provide a complete, reliable and efficient solution incorporating products and services.'
This involves acting as agents, stockists, distributors, traders and financiers depending on the needs of the customers and/or markets.
The range of products provided include electrical transmission and distribution equipment, industrial chemicals, paints and pigment raw materials, engineering items such as steel straps and welding equipment, test and measurement instruments ranging from high-end calibration systems and network protocol analysers all the way down to basic clampmeters and multimeters.
Repair and calibration services are offered on most items through their technical center.
Additionally, due to a core of highly trained personnel and availablility of high end demonstration equipment they also provide troubleshooting services, such as network service.

Wide Territory
Haris Al Afaq directly, and through its associated companies, covers the whole of the Arabian Peninsula, Iran, Iraq, East Africa and the Indian subcontinent. Infrastructure and facilities are centralised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The company uses the modern and efficient facilities, as well as the tax and exchange control free environment of Dubai and the UAE to service the entire region for specific products.
Dubai's role as a marketing hub (through events such as the Middle East Electricity Exhibition) and logistics hub for the region leverages the impact of Haris on the regional market.

Secure Infrastructure
The company employs in excess of 100 persons all of whom are well experienced and trained in their fields of activity.
Haris Al Afaq has over 30,000 sq ft of covered warehouse space, including in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, along with mechanical handling equipment and special equipment for handling hazardous chemicals.
Through offices in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the U.A.E is well covered and as one of the oldest suppliers of equipment in the region, Haris Al Afaq is well known to the end users and Authorities and registered in most areas of activity.
As the product and customer base of the company is heavily oriented towards industrial and governmental customers, the need for strong technical sales support is necessary.  The company has a number of trained engineers for design, sales and after sales support in all product areas.
The company also maintains its own repair and caliberation facilities for instrumentation and electrical equipment and is fully certified by the Original Equipment manufacturers. 

Instrumentation Division
Haris Al Afaq started its instrumentation activities in the early 1980's in the Test and Measurement arena and was targeted at a broad range of industries.
Haris Al Afaq represents several very well known brand names such as Fluke Corporation, Megger (formerly AVO) International, Druck Ltd. (formerly SI-Pressure Ltd. UK), Chauvin-Arnoux (Enerdis & Pyro Controle Divisions) amongst many others.
Headquartered in Dubai, UAE, the Instrumentation division covers the entire Arabian Gulf directly, as well as through several highly qualified local partners in the relevant countries who act as sub-distributors as well as local service centers.
One such industry type is the Power sector in which the high-end application areas include Relay Test equipment, Electrical Relays, Transformer Loss Measurement Systems, High Voltage Test systems, as well as SCADA and Data Acquisition systems.
Other market areas that Haris Al Afaq is active in includes the Government Ministries (chiefly Water and Health), Defence as well as the oil and gas sectors. Items sold here include Calibration systems, Counters, Data Acquisition systems and Biomedical Calibration and Simulation products.
Of course, Haris Al Afaq still supports it's original roots in T&M (for example, digital oscilloscopes, digital multimeters and other hand held devices) as well and provides these basic items to all of the above market areas and it's own sub-distributor network. As part of it's growth into the 21st Century the company has recently expanded into the instrumentation portions of the Networking, Communications and Process markets.
The Haris Al Afaq Instrumentation Division has served the market for more than a decade with products from world leaders in the field of test  and measurement such as Fluke Corporation, USA and the Netherlands,Hart Scientific, USA, Megger International -(formerly known as AVO International) UK and USA, Druck-SI Pressure-UK and Haven Automation-UK, PACE-USA amongst others.
As we believe in providing complete support to our valuable customers we have set up a state-of-the-art calibration and service center. This centre is authorised by several of the above principals and consequently falls under the umbrella of their respective ISO certifications. We periodically undergo an audit by these principals to verify conformity to their standards and high level of quality.
To fully support the equipment supplied by Haris Al Afaq, the Technical Center can calibrate most Electrical, Temperature and Pressure Test Equipment. The temperature and humidity controlled laboratory is based around an automated Fluke Calibration Systems consisting of: -

The entire system works with metrology software designed to support ISO 9000 requirements as well as MIL - STD 45662A requirements. Each year the main calibration standards are shipped to the Netherlands for annual re-calibration maintaining traceability and reverse traceability to the Dutch NKO standards.

In general the Haris Technical Center can calibrate much of the range of Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) that we supply such as:

Any products that the company cannot calibrate in house can be shipped back to calibration labs in Europe that the company has  relationships with.
The service centre is authorised to service and repair both Fluke and Megger instruments.
