Maxtube, the distributor of Duoline, the downhole tubular corrosion solution for extreme well conditions is expanding its Middle East operations headquartered in Dubai.
Increasing demand for its innovative technology and array of technical services has resulted in the rapid expansion of Maxtube in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafz) over the last three years. Its increasing local presence is backed by formidable technical support and a flexible operational presence providing Maxtube’s wide customer base with significant reductions in delivery time and substantial cost savings in the corrosion protection of downhole tubing.
Maxtube re-located its headquarters from Europe to the Middle East in 2000 to be closer to its increasing regional client base. Strategically from Dubai, Maxtube benefits from its positioning in the world’s time zones and its operational connectivity with business in Europe, the Middle East and Asia/Pacific.
In the Middle East, Maxtube is focusing on Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Syria as well as its more established markets in Oman, Kuwait and Egypt.
The JAFZ location also allows Maxtube to enhance and increase its sales and technical services to North and West Africa, the Caspian, Asia/Pacific and China. One of its recent projects was Sakhalin in Russia. Maxtube still maintains UK operations to service the North Sea and European market.
Maxtube installs the Duoline lining systems, a product that consists of a thin sleeve of GRE (glass reinforced epoxy) cemented into tubing to combine the strength of the steel pipe with the corrosion resistance and flow enhancement of a synthetic material.
Typically, Duoline applications include dealing with corrosion problems from water, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide gas. The highly corrosive environment commonly found in reservoirs in both produced and injected fluids makes the lining technology highly cost effective solution for combating corrosion in the Middle East.
Typical Duoline applications include: water injection wells; WAG (water alternating gas) wells; gas production wells; oil production wells; and disposal wells. Many of these Duoline applications have outstanding long-term case histories, in excess of 30 years service life with no corrosion, in environments with high chlorides/salt content, high CO2 content, high H2S content, high temperature, high pressure, etc. The evidence shows no other lining or coating can prevent corrosion as successfully as Duoline.
The Maxtube process is fully portable in the field with the company able to mobilise portable lining units (PLUs) to specific customer sites deploying its own technical staff to support the Duoline applications across the region.
Duoline can be installed on site or in the mill prior to shipment.
Importantly, Maxtube can provide customers with reliable, efficient and corrosion-free wells providing an extended operating lifecycle at substantially lower costs than alternative technologies.
Duoline has proven to be one of the most successful prevention technologies of downhole tubular corrosion. The lining system has more than three decades of proven field history with 80 million feet installed worldwide.
Recently, Maxtube launched the DL-Ring System, allowing for premium connections to be lined with Duoline with no modifications required.
Another groundbreaking achievement was the lining of the first 10 3/4 inch string incorporating the DL-System supplied for a major Norwegian operator for installation in the North Sea.
