Denmark-based Aalborg Industries, manufacturer of trend-setting marine steam and hot-water boilers, exhaust gas economisers, and thermal fluid heaters, recently completed a full-scale project for Stelmar, the Athens-based international petroleum and  crude transportation firm, which included calling on their pressure vessel expertise.

The firm is a Danish industrial group with subsidiaries in 14 countries around the world engaged in marine and industrial activities centred on boilers. Aalborg Industries also has its own extensive range of heat exchangers and an advanced inert gas system. The company has manufactured boilers since 1919 and is now one of the world’s leading suppliers of marine boilers. All Aalborg Industries companies have the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System. Stelmar awards
At the delivery from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co, Ltd. (DSME) of the double-hulled Panamax crude oil tanker “Reymar” to Stelmar Shipping Ltd, Aalborg Industries, was commended by Stelmar for “Outstanding Performance”.
Jens Hvas Olesen, managing director of Aalborg Industries in Pusan, received the award which was given for outstanding performance in all aspects of the equipment supply from engineering through delivery, commissioning and service.
The boiler package delivered for “Reymar” comprised a 25 t/h AQ-18 oil-fired boiler with KBSD steam atomising burner and a 2 t/h Mission(tm) OC composite boiler with Weishaupt burner. Engineering has taken place at the Aalborg Industries offices in Denmark and Korea, while production took place at Aalborg Industries, Denmark.
As for the heat exchangers, Aalborg Industries MX15 fuel preheaters (for burner units) were delivered from Denmark, while Aalborg's MX10 (steam operated) and MX20 (thermal oil operated) heat exchangers for the booster modules in the engine room were supplied through AURA Marine, Finland.
Stelmar Shipping Ltd. is an international provider of petroleum product and crude oil transportation services. Headquartered in Athens, Greece, Stelmar operates one of the world’s largest and most modern Handymax and Panamax tanker fleets with an average age of approximately seven years, excluding the newbuildings.
The company, through its maintenance of a modern fleet and commitment to safety, has earned an excellent reputation for providing transportation services to major oil companies, oil traders and state-owned oil companies.
From the port in Pusan, Aalborg Industries Ltd. renders boilers/burner service and delivers spare parts as a link in the global boiler service network of the Aalborg Industries Group.

Vietnam presence
Aalborg Industries recently also registered a representative office in Vietnam, in the capital Hanoi and will be a sales office for the Aalborg Industries Group’s marine boilers.
The firm  appointed Doan Minh Tu as sales manager. Tu was formerly a chief executive with the UEB Corporation, a Spanish company in Vietnam. Mr Tu has undergone an introduction and training programme in Denmark.

Global awareness
Pushing their international image further, Aalborg Industries participated in the 2nd international exhibition “Shipbuilding - Marine Technology & Transportation 2004” (SMTT) at the Fair Centre in Hanoi. The SMTT exhibition is organised by among others Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (VINASHIN). 
In September 2003, Aalborg Industries participated in the “Denmark meets Vietnam” business delegation to Vietnam with the Danish Prince Consort as head of the delegation.

Management shift
In order to strengthen their activities in China, Aalborg Industries Ltd. in Shanghai will in future be the head office for sales of new marine boilers and After Sales service in the China/Hong Kong markets. 
Sameer Kalra has been appointed Managing Director of the offices in Shanghai, Dalian, and Hong Kong with effect from 1 June 2004. A marine engineer and MBA, Kalra has 10 years of experience in the Aalborg Industries Group, having working in Dubai, Aalborg, Rotterdam, and since 2000 as managing director of our company in Singapore. The Aalborg Industries companies in Shanghai, Dalian and Hong Kong (as well as Guangzhou and Nanjing) have a total of 28 employees engaged in sales of new boilers, thermal fluid heaters, heat exchangers and inert gas systems as well as total After Sales service including commissioning of boiler plants.
The firm aloso confirmed present head of Aalborg Industries Ltd. in Shanghai, Boelo Lussenburg, has accepted the position as Managing Director oftheir marine After Sales company in the United Arab Emirates. Lussenburg, who is a marine engineer, has been with Aalborg Industries since 1991 and has previously worked in the Rotterdam and Dubai offices. The Dubai office has 50 employees.
