HSE training graduation at RUSS

RAWABI United Safety Services (RUSS), a joint venture between Rawabi Holding and United Safety International, has been awarded a contract by Saudi Aramco to design, develop, manufacture and deliver a total solution for a wireless gas detection system.

As a leader in the domain of safety solutions, RUSS deploys its technologies in the detection of toxic, harmful, and hazardous gases and tightly integrated networks with centralized system monitoring and control.

The proposed design aims to detect flammable gas leaks at distribution valves widely dispersed in large areas and provide controller with alarm, which RUSS will remotely monitor.

RUSS’ objective is to deploy its local engineering, development, and manufacturing to deliver the project requirements. The project presents RUSS with a unique opportunity as supplier and vendor of telemetry, data acquisition, and supervisory warning/response integrated systems.

The company started its operations in 2002 with the main goal of providing high quality H2S safety services and breathing air delivery systems to the oil and gas Industry in Saudi Arabia.

“We have come a long way since our inception and our commitment to major oil and gas players in the region has led us to provide more safety man-hours than any other safety company in Saudi (35,000/month). We have a reputation for holding one of the largest safety equipment inventories in-country and are proud of our long lasting partnership with customers. Thanks to our customers’ trust and the quality of the service we provide, we have grown to command 70 per cent share of the country’s upstream safety market,” says Osman Ibrahim, Rawabi Holding Group President & CEO.

“We look forward to continuous expansion in the region. Through our three pillars — building national workforce by recruiting and training Saudi talents and transferring technologies, creating innovations that keep our people safer, and developing our local customer base — we are building a solid base to support our growth plans for the region while at the same time contributing positively to the economic development and quality of life in Saudi Arabia,” he says.

Furthermore and in alignment with RUSS’ expansion plans for the Industrial sector, the company is setting up two remote warehouses in Yanbu and Jubail industrial city, which will help support the growing operational demands.

United Safety is a vital component of the RUSS joint venture. With over 27 years of experience in safety in the oil and gas industry and a global footprint that includes operations in more than 15 countries, United Safety has built an impressive track record and reputation as a safety services company.

The company services both the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry, offering quality and innovative safety solutions for plant turnaround and shutdown safety services, onshore/offshore drilling and well servicing safety and integrated risk management services.

“United Safety has helped train the RUSS Saudi work force and is a key source of HSE expertise for our projects in Saudi Arabia,” he says.

Since the launch of the Engineering, Research, and Development (ER&D) Department at RUSS in early 2013, there have been non-stop and interesting activities in the realm of design and engineering experimentation in major fields of engineering.

Composed of electrical, computer, mechanical, and software engineers, the ER&D team started by fixing and updating current equipment and enhancing wireless transmission range and slowly shifted toward original design.  For the first time in the history of RUSS, the engineers embarked on designing electrical circuit boards (PCB) and produced the first Rawabi Holding branded electronic controllers.
