GRANDWELD Shipyards has successfully delivered 42M aluminium fast crew boat Shah 1 to Adnoc group. The contract for construction of the 42M boat for Adnoc was signed in December 2013.

Adnoc awarded Grandweld after winning an international tendering for the fast crew boat project and enhancing a successful business relationship.

The 42M crew boat is powered by 3 high speeds diesel engines driving 3 fixed pitch propellers and capable of developing a speed in excess of 21 knots.

The boat has diving support capability to provide various services required in the offshore operations. The vessel has luxury features of 30 person’s crew seating capacity, with 104 sq m loading area for over 90 tonnes of deck cargo requirements, and specially designed wheelhouse and crew cabins to achieve the highest quality standards and maximum space utilisation and comfort. The vessel will be operated by Irshad in Fujairah Oil Terminal, and will be utilised to transport personnel and support offshore oil and gas operations.

Last year, Grandweld shipyards successfully delivered the first crane/workboat, named KOC El-Kout to the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The contract was signed in February 2013 to design and build a series of four heavy-duty crane/workboat class vessels to meet the specific needs of KOC. The vessels were designed by Grandweld and model tested before starting production. The vessels are designed for unrestricted duties and for tasks such as lifting and moving heavy equipment, oil-pollution control, SPM hose handling, FO/FW supply to remote areas, and other similar duties.

These vessels are powered by 2 x 1068KW medium speed main engines driving Azimuthing Stern Thrusters with Controllable Pitch Propellers. The engines are supported by condition-based monitoring system to monitor the engines and propulsion system through satellite. Each vessel is equipped with a crane in the forward area of the vessel capable of lifting 20 tonnes at 10 metres radius.
