Siemens said it has achieved a major milestone by completing the fast-track supply and installation of four E-Class turbines to Egypt’s Attaka Power Plant in just five months.

The German engineering company has completed the fast-track supply and delivery of the turbines in collaboration with supply partner Elsewedy Power System Projects (PSP).

The first turbine has entered commercial operation after a construction period of only five months, making it one of the fastest implementation times for this type of project in the company’s history.

Operated by East Delta Electricity Production Company (EDEPC), Attaka Power Plant has an installed generating capacity of 640 megawatts (MW), and is a significant addition to the capability and stability of Egypt’s national electricity grid.

Located near Suez City, Attaka Power Plant is part of Egypt’s third fast-track electricity plan which aims to meet the country’s rapidly rising demand for efficient, reliable power generation capacity.

The plant is powered by Siemens E-Class turbines which are characterised by high fuel flexibility and reliability, service-friendly design and suitability for all load ranges, particularly peak-load operation.
