Background


The Master Gas System Booster Gas Compression Station project will expand the capacity of the East-West Pipeline system to deliver sales gas around the kingdom. Saudi Aramco is extending the existing Master Gas System to the Western Province in order to supply the power plants located there.


Project status


May 2015: Phase 1 with China’s Sepco currently in execution.


Project scope
The main components of the Master Gas System consist of:
• Three gas plants at Berri, Shedgum, and Uthmaniyah;
• Two fractionation centres at Juaymah and Yanbu; and
• Yanbu industrial city.


Project finance


Saudi Aramco is the client and they plan to invest $4.05 billion in MGSE project.


The project finances is split as follows:
Phase 1: $ 1.65 billion
Phase 2: $ 2.4 billion, which is further divided into various packages:
