Scania’s 13-litre power generation engine with PDE injector

The company launched its first gas V8 for power generation applications in 2016. This product will give customers the possibility to look at a sustainable solution

Scania, a leading provider of industrial, power generation and marine engines, is going to present a broad range of power generation engines such as a 13-litre engine as well as its latest product, the Gas V8. Furthermore, Scania will have a Scania Genset SG770 at the Middle East Electricity Exhibition.

"Scania has exhibited at Middle East Electricity since many years. The response to our stand has been very positive and we had excellent visitor numbers in 2016," says Erik Hedman, Engines sales manager, Scania Middle East.

The exhibition is the perfect opportunity to meet up with many international customers and present Scania’s broad range for power generation engines and gensets. MEE serves as a key meeting point for the power generation business in the Middle East as well as the global marketplace, he says.

Scania launched its first gas V8 for power generation applications in 2016. This brand product will be shown at MEE 2017 and will give customers the possibility to look at a sustainable solution.

With natural gas, CO2 emissions are reduced by as much as 20 per cent; with biogas, reductions can be as much as 90 per cent, he says.

The business in the Middle East region has despite the economic downturn shown positive development during 2016. The GCC has been a main growth area for Scania, which is the result of its heightened presence on the market.

"We have during 2016 increased the focus on the GCC region by strengthening our regional office in Dubai for the engines and power generation business. This has been achieved together with our partners throughout the region and sets the foundation for further growth," he says.

Employing some 44,000 people, the company operates in about 100 countries. Research and development activities are concentrated in Sweden, while production takes place in Europe and South America, with facilities for global interchange of both components and complete vehicles.
