Ducab’s ‘DuPan’ range of flexible panel wires will also be on the stand in multiple configurations, capacities, and colours, he says.

Using the latest technology and expanding its range of specialised products, Ducab introduced the Ducab MarineBICC range of cables customised for the marine and offshore industry. These high-quality and long-life cables are suitable for extreme temperatures and moisture, and are braided for extra protection, without affecting the flexibility of the cable.

In order to improve fire safety onboard ships, barges, and offshore platforms, the Ducab MarineBICC product range is also fire-safety-certified, fire -retardant and with low smoke emission. The company has other exciting products in the pipeline for 2017.

Ducab has participated in several editions at Middle East Electricity and has partnered with the event numerous times as a sponsor. "We believe the event attracts a great number of key decision makers and players in the Mena power industry and we see it as a great opportunity to network with our existing suppliers and customers, as well as reach out to potential clients in new markets, local and international," he says.

At the event every year, Ducab showcases its new and existing specialised products as well as initiatives such as PowerOverFire by Ducab, a mobile roadshow in a custom-branded 40-foot truck that travels the UAE and distributes fire safety information to general public, dealers and retailers in the electrical product supply chain. In 2015, the truck was present at the event to drive conversation on fire safety.

In another development, in a joint venture with Senaat, Ducab had earlier announced the formation of Ducab Aluminium Company, a 50,000-tpa aluminium rod mill. The plant is in the final stages and is on track to start production of Electrical Conductive (EC) grade aluminium alloy rods, wires, and bare overhead conductors. The plant is located in the Khalifa Industrial Zone of Abu Dhabi (Kizad) and will target the GCC and Mena regions for overhead conductors and wires, he says.

Chaturvedy ... Ducab has a steady pipeline of projects

The past few years have witnessed a demand in power cables in the GCC across Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV), and Extra High Voltage (EHV) cables as new power projects begin to take shape, albeit at a slower pace as expected, says Chaturvedy.

This year Ducab has seen a steady pipeline of projects both regionally and internationally. Ducab’s nuclear power-qualified cable range, Ducab NuBICC was recently selected by the Korean Hydro-Nuclear Power Co (KHNP) for the Shin Hanul 1 & 2 Nuclear power plant under construction currently. This project win represents the first international nuclear project for Ducab, building on their successful nuclear cable supply engagement with the UAE’s Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC).

Ducab’s ongoing projects include the iconic Bluewaters Island project in Dubai, the upcoming Dubai Parks and Resorts spread across 25 million square feet of land, multiple OGP related projects with Adnoc, Riyadh Metro and the Al Ain Hospital amongst many others.

"Ducab is proud to be supplying the world’s first entirely 3D-printed office in UAE, the ‘Office of the Future’, with approximately 10 km of cables and wires. Ducab is connecting the Office of the Future with a wide range of cable products, including LPCB approved Ducab FlamBICC Fire Performance cables, TUFF DuFlex heat resistant flexible cables, and the Ducab Connect range of cable accessories that complement the latest technology showcased by the building," he says.

In addition to these, Ducab announced the order of $12 million in the Khalifa Industrial Zone, Abu Dhabi. The order includes the delivery of medium- and low-voltage power cables, control cables and accessories. The Ducab PetroBICC range has also witnessed significant acceptance from the oil and gas sector in the region, where presently Ducab is supplying an order worth $1.3 million in Abu Dhabi.

The company has also completed the supply of a $10 million delivery of medium- and low-voltage cables for the North East Bab Field Development Project, Phase III: Rumaitha and Shanayel fields. Deliveries to Island Surface Facility Project at Abu Dhabi of $60 million and Clean Fuels Project of $70 million at Kuwait have also been recently completed.

DUCAB’S SPECIALISED PRODUCTS

Ducab PetroBICC: Ducab PetroBICC cables are designed to specifically cater to the oil, gas and petrochemical environment which are often subject to chemical products consisting of acids, bases and different hydrocarbons. These cables are layered with Polyamide and Lead Sheath to equip the cables with chemical resistance.
