Background
Saudi Arabia’s offshore hydrocarbon programme is a crucial component of the kingdom’s efforts to meet greater production targets. Safaniya, Marjan and Zuluf are among the largest offshore oil fields in Saudi territory, located about 200 kms north of Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran. Berri was originally designed as a gas collection and compression center to process trapped gas from the Berri oil field, but it has become one of the centerpieces of the Master Gas System.
