Endress+Hauser has strengthened its process analysis portfolio by acquiring Germany-based SOPAT, a specialist in inline particle measurement technology, along with its subsidiary Parsum.

SOPAT and Parsum, with a combined workforce of 30 in Berlin and Chemnitz, now operate under Endress+Hauser’s Liquid Analysis product centre in Gerlingen.

Founded in 2012, SOPAT develops photo-optical inline systems that measure particle, droplet, and bubble sizes in real time without sampling, enhancing process monitoring, product quality, and response times.

Parsum’s laser-based probes analyse particle size and speed distributions for solids, powders, and granulates.

Customers across life sciences, food & beverage, and mining industries use these systems to ensure consistent quality.

Endress+Hauser sees the acquisition as strategically important for its core industries, providing enhanced laboratory-to-production solutions.

SOPAT co-founders Jörn Emmerich and Dr Sebastian Maaß remain in management to continue driving innovation.
