Irena invites renewable energy projects for Central America, Caribbean funding

0/0

The International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena) has invited public and private sector renewable energy developers in Central America and the Caribbean to submit project proposals for potential financing through its Climate Investment Platform (CIP) and Energy Transition Accelerator Financing (ETAF) platform.

The initiative aims to accelerate renewable energy deployment and support the decarbonisation of economies across 19 eligible countries, while promoting a just energy transition.

Selected projects could gain access to financing, investment partnerships and de-risking instruments.

Eligible projects include renewable power generation, supporting infrastructure, e-mobility, green industrialisation and renewable energy supply chains, covering technologies such as solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal, bioenergy, green hydrogen and clean transportation.

Projects submitted to the CIP must be beyond the conceptual stage and aligned with national climate priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

ETAF targets investment-ready medium- and large-scale projects requiring significant capital, with completed feasibility studies and financing readiness.

ETAF currently offers access to $4 billion in financing committed by 15 global partners. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
