Italy’s natural gas storage has reached 79.78 per cent, or around 162.3 TWh, more than two months ahead of the October 31 deadline, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

However, inventories remain below last year’s level of 85.56 per cent.

Across Europe, storage stood at 61.37 per cent, equivalent to approximately 693.6 TWh, marking the lowest level for this time of year since 2009.

This compares with 74.36 per cent recorded on August 19, 2025.

Germany, Europe’s largest storage market, surpassed the 50 per cent mark for the first time this year, reaching 50.06 per cent.

This remains significantly below the 67.5 per cent recorded at the same point last year.
