eActros ... the first all-electric truck from Mercedes-Benz

The truck is a milestone in sustainable haulage and a step towards Saudi Vision 2030

The sustainable transportation landscape in Saudi Arabia is on the verge of transformation as the highly anticipated, eActros 300 L 4x2, the first battery-electric truck from Mercedes-Benz, makes its debut in the Kingdom.

Juffali Commercial Vehicles (JCV), the authorised general distributor for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, is proud to unveil this revolutionary heavy-duty electric truck, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of emission-free road transport of goods.

Schulze ... committed to sustainability in transportation and the environment

JCV has had a long and successful relationship with Daimler dating back to 1974 when a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles and EA Juffali and Brothers established the National Automobile Industry (NAI) in Jeddah to manufacture Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles in Saudi Arabia.

Sustainable, future-oriented, driven by innovation and quiet: That's the first all-electric truck from Mercedes-Benz. But the eActros is more than just a truck; it is part of the integrated eActros solution.

With a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and a cleaner future, the eActros represents a remarkable leap forward in the transportation sector.

This cutting-edge all-electric truck is designed to be more than just a vehicle; it's a testament to the harmonious integration of innovation and efficiency.

It is also a statement of Mercedes-Benz Trucks' unwavering dedication to a greener planet and a step towards Saudi Vision 2030's sustainable transportation goals.

Heiko Schulze, CEO of JCV, says: "Launching eActros in Saudi Arabia signifies a significant milestone for sustainable transportation in the area. This reinforces our commitment to sustainability in transportation and the environment. The electric truck symbolises our dedication to responsible choices and a sustainable future, aligning with our core values."

RANGE

Yazan Zaben, Director of Sales, JCV

The eActros is available in two versions with three or four batteries. Each of these special lithium-ion batteries has a capacity of approximately 112 kWh, resulting in total battery capacity of around 336 and 448 kWh.

All this power helps the eActros to travel distances of up to 330 km and 400 km, although the exact range may vary depending on the geography of the area, driving method, outside temperature, load and body, among other factors.

The eActros has excellent stamina, making it ideal for heavy-duty distribution haulage in urban areas.

CHARGING PROCESS

Filling stations are replaced by charging stations. The standardised charging system makes charging the eActros as intuitive as possible: apply the electronic parking brake, unlock the vehicle, and connect the CCS Combo-2 plug to the vehicle's charging socket (it locks automatically).

With a charging capacity of 160 kW, it can go from 20 per cent battery to 80 per cent in just over an hour with three batteries and in around an hour and a half with four batteries.

The eActros is a leap forward in the transportation sector

And with that, your eActros can hit the road again! Among other factors, the average charging time depends on the ambient temperature and the vehicle temperature, the charge level of the batteries and the charging capacity of the charging station.

To stop the electrical charging process, press the stop button next to the charge socket to unlock the vehicle.

ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS TO IMPROVE SAFETY

The eActros comes as standard with proven assistance systems from Mercedes-Benz Trucks to assist drivers, especially in urban areas: from Stability Control Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist and Sideguard Assist to Active Brake Assist 5, tyre pressure monitoring and Roll Control Assist.

The cab is also equipped with a new fire detection and alarm system with which drivers can be warned in good time of an emergency.

What's more, all eActros variants are equipped with the legally prescribed Acoustic Vehicle Alert System as standard.

This is an acoustic warning system that sounds when the vehicle travels at speeds of up to 60 kmph in order to make other road users aware of the vehicle, increasing safety in the process.

The eActros is powered by the eAxle, featuring two integrated electric motors and a two-speed transmission, delivering unparalleled ride comfort and exceptional vehicle dynamics.

The eActros has a standardised charging system

Thanks to the Multimedia Cockpit and the MirrorCam as standard features, a particularly low noise level in the cab and low vibration (as there is no engine under the cab), driving and working in the eActros are made as relaxing and stress-free as possible.

SUSTAINABILITY IS A MISSION

The eActros is as much as twice as efficient as a diesel truck. It achieves this by using its energy efficiently with the aid of the ePowertrain and the recuperation function (with which especially high levels of energy can be recovered during deceleration phases).

The tailor-made electric truck solution focusses on heavy-duty short-radius distribution in urban areas and is truly impressive thanks to its optimised drivetrain weight, increased efficiency and low-noise driving. The eAxle used has two separate electric motors and delivers a peak output of 400 kW. In March 2023, a near-series eActros 300 prototype was driven around 3,000 km from the Arctic Circle to Stuttgart in Germany to test the vehicle in real operation for several days at a time under the most varied climatic and topographical conditions.
