KOC advances GC-25, GC-30 development

India’s Megha Engineering & Infrastructures has secured a KD117 million ($379 million) contract from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to develop a separation unit at Gathering Centre 25 (GC-25) and a water injection facility at GC-30.

The project forms part of KOC’s upstream infrastructure development programme and includes new processing and water-treatment facilities, pipelines, tie-ins, utilities and associated infrastructure.

At GC-25, Megha Engineering will build a three-phase low-pressure wet separation facility featuring two 150,000-barrel-per-day separator packages, an LP gas knock-out drum and gas-handling facilities.

At GC-30, the company will install treated-water filtration and high-pressure injection systems, including filters and pumps with combined capacity of 500,000 barrels of water per day.

The project also covers effluent-water treatment, fuel-gas treatment, oil recovery, chemical injection, safety systems and related civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works.

The scope includes design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and start-up, as well as operation and maintenance responsibilities during the applicable period.

Megha Engineering said it won the contract after submitting the lowest bid during KOC’s tender process in November last year.

The project will also involve transfer pipelines linking GC-25, GC-15 and GC-30 and modifications to existing facilities.

The award strengthens Megha Engineering’s presence in Kuwait’s upstream oil and gas sector and supports KOC’s efforts to modernitone its gathering, separation, water-treatment and injection infrastructure.
