BACKGROUND

Qatar Petroleum plans for the development of NGL 5 plant. 

The primary objective of the NGL-5 project is to replace FSP, NGL-1, and ERUs. 

The new NGL-5 Plant will be able to process up to 350 million cubic feet a day of associated gas and will be located in the Mesaieed Industrial City. 

Associated gas from the existing offshore fields and Dukhan are being processed in the existing Fahahil Stripping Plant (FSP), Natural Gas Liquid (NGL-1) and Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), Ethane Recovery Units (ERU) facilities. 

These existing facilities have been operating for over 40 years and need major revamping and upgrades to ensure safe and reliable operation for the next 30 years.


PROJECT SCOPE

The scope of work covers the construction of a new NGL-5 train and its associated facilities, including early site preparation such as access roads, fencing and gates, earthworks, excavation, grading, suitable fill placement, compaction, testing, and site handover. 

The EPC scope includes feed gas compression, slug handling, gas sweetening and dehydration, mercury removal, NGL recovery and fractionation, product treatment, propane refrigeration, acid gas enrichment, sulphur recovery, anti-flaring systems, utilities, boil-off gas recovery, drainage and collection networks, effluent water treatment, carbon dioxide treatment and sequestration/export, brownfield modifications, and product rundown pipelines.


PROJECT STATUS

As of September 2026, CCC has begun forming its project team. Mobilisation to the project site, in preparation for launching construction work, is scheduled to start before the end of 2027.
