Name of Client : Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco)
Estimated Budget : $1,500,000,000
Revised Budget : $1,000,000,000
Facility Type : Gas Compression
Sector : Gas
Main Contractor : L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering
Location : Al Jafurah, Saudi Arabia
Award Date : 2021-Q4
Status : Construction
Background
The Compression Facilities Package is part of the Jafurah gas terminal that will process up to 1.1 billion cu ft per day of unconventional (shale) raw gas from nearby areas, producing sales gas, ethane, natural gas liquids and condensate. The Jafurah gas plant is expected to be a key element of Aramco's long-term strategy to boost its unconventional gas production to 3 Bcfd during the next decade.
Project Status
As of May 2024, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering has completed the precast installation of 3 unit substations (USS). The remaining work for the emergency diesel generator (EDG) buildings is on track.
Project Scope
The scope of the compression package includes the construction of three gas compression plants with a production capacity of 600 mmscfd (raw gas) and 150,000 bpd (condensate gas), installation of a depressurizing vessel, HP/LP separator, gas compressor knockout drums, flare system, and condensate transfer pumps. It also involves the construction of associated utilities and infrastructure, a fire water system, three 230 kV gas insulated substations (GIS), installation of 13.8 kV switch gas, construction of two operation support buildings at North & South Jafurah field, installation of RO systems, water lines, water pumps, and other utilities. Additionally, it includes the installation of electrical systems, instrumentation, and process automated system, as well as the construction of a water injection facility with a handling capacity of 100,000 bpd and associated facilities.
