A DRAG compressor anti-surge valve

IMI has secured a multi-million Euro deal to supply seven anti-surge valves to a North Sea offshore upstream production facility. The project aims to upgrade existing valves with new ones, enhancing system reliability, efficiency, and environmental performance.

The valves will use additive manufactured components and IMI's patented DRAG technology, which reduces inlet pressure and reduces vibration, noise, and erosion.

The valves also feature SC/V actuators and the high-capacity, high-precision digital pneumatic SHP positioner, which offers low stroking times and high dynamic control.

The SHP positioner also offers online and offline diagnostic capabilities for monitoring the valve.

The new anti-surge valves also include IMI's EEEasy-Seal stem packing solution, which provides up to ISO Class AM FE leakage protection and is third-party certified to ISO 15848-1.

Giuseppe Buscemi, EMEA President of Process Automation at IMI, commented: "We are proud to once again assist our longstanding customer in North Sea with such a critical infrastructure upgrade. Valve design has come a long way in recent years and our ability to match state-of-the-art additive manufactured components with the very latest in positioning and stem packing technology was crucial to a successful re-tender."
