Background
Aramco considers the expansion of Zuluf oilfield to boost production of Arabian Heavy crude. Zuluf Field, a super-giant oil field located in the Arabian Gulf, approximately 40km offshore the north-east coast of Saudi Arabia, is undergoing expansion to increase its production capacity. The oil field is present at a shallow water depth of approximately 40m. The expansion project will increase the production capacity of the field from 800,000 barrels per day (bpd) of Arabian medium crude oil to 1.4 million barrels per day (Mbpd) of heavy crude oil. The Offshore Package 4 is also categorised as CRPO 82.
Project Scope
The offshore package, also referred to as CRPO 82, will encompass a comprehensive range of components essential for its operations. It includes 12 oil-handling wellhead topsides and two oil tie-in platforms, along with one electrical distribution platform. Additionally, the package features an extendable draft platform (EDP) and jacket, facilitating the structural integrity and functionality of the offshore installation. To support these structures, there will be a significant number of associated cables and pipelines, specifically seven 230 KV cables, 13 15 KV cables, 10 subsea valve skids, 10 umbilicals, six flexible pipelines, and nine rigid pipelines. Notably, the 230 KV cable will extend approximately 80 kilometers from the landfall point to the offshore installation, requiring trenching and backfilling along a distance of about 23 kilometers. Furthermore, the package will incorporate provisions for supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, ensuring effective monitoring and management of the offshore operations.
Project Status
As of February 2025, AQPCI has completed the line pipe coatings and loadouts of Package 4 of the Zuluf offshore project.
