German shipowner Leonhardt & Blumberg has installed Econowind VentoFoils on Hansa Drejoe, the first of four general cargo vessels to receive wind-assisted propulsion technology.
The installation at Royal Niestern Sander Shipyard is expected to provide around 10 per cent additional thrust, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
A second vessel, Hansa Christiansoe, is undergoing installation.
