Saipem lands $1.8bn offshore contract
SAIPEM has won a key contract worth $1.8 billion for an offshore project in the Middle East region.
The scope of work encompasses the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of offshore and subsea facilities, said Saipem in a statement.
For Saipem, this comes close on the heels of a big Saudi contract win in June by Saipem Nasser Saeed Al Hajri Contracting Company (SNSH) joint venture for a new compression plant in the non associated gas field of Uthmaniyah.
John Crane wins Bahrain refinery deal
John Crane has renewed a long-term agreement for another six years to support 1,833 pumps across Bahrain’s refinery’s established operations and modernised assets.
The Managed Reliability Program (MRP) will help reduce recurring mechanical seal failures, improve equipment availability and provide greater certainty over maintenance costs.
Over the six-year programme, the refinery is targeting an approximately 7.5 per cent improvement in reliability across its established assets and a 150 per cent improvement across its newer assets.
Arabian Drilling resumes rigs operation
Arabian Drilling, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest drilling contractor by fleet size, has said it has received notice of resumption of operations for remaining suspended offshore rigs.
The resumption of operations for these rigs reflects the continued recovery in offshore market activity and is expected to result in the company’s offshore fleet utilisation reaching 100 per cent by the end of Q3 2026.
Reaching full utilisation marks an important landmark for Arabian Drilling, demonstrating the company’s operational readiness, disciplined execution, and ability to effectively respond to market demand.
Protecting energy infra from drones
US-based Powerus has won a $22.3 million contract to deploy networked counter-UAS detection, tracking, classification and early-warning capabilities to support the protection of critical oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East. It will lead the deployment and support integration of the networked capability in phases in accordance with the customer’s operational requirements.
Energy workers’ wellbeing in focus
Introspexion has signed a contract with a major UAE-based energy operator to deliver a company-wide mental health and wellbeing programme that will support employees across onshore, remote, and offshore sites.
Its team of psychologists will work closely with senior leaders to design and implement a bespoke strategy that reflects the unique operational demands of the energy sector while strengthening psychological health, leadership capability and workforce resilience across the client’s operations.
The programme will include psychological profiling, executive coaching, workplace mental health strategy, psychological risk assessment, wellbeing workshops, confidential employee support and critical incident response.
Doosan wins Oman power plant
Doosan Enerbility will build a combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Misfah, Oman, with a consortium comprising Nebras Power and SEPCO-3.
The deal is worth approximately $670 million, The Korea Times reported.
Doosan Enerbility will also directly manufacture and supply the plant’s core equipment, including the steam turbine and generator.
The Misfah power plant, to be built about 20 km west of Muscat, Oman’s capital, will have a generation capacity of 1,700 MW and is targeted for completion in April 2029.
UAE bank drafts TFF
Emirates NBD has pioneered the UAE’s first dedicated Transition Finance Framework (TFF) to support corporate and institutional customers in their transformation to more sustainable business models.
The framework establishes a clear methodology for identifying, assessing and labelling transition finance activities that contribute to the decarbonisation of high-emitting and hard-to-abate sectors that are complex, capital-intensive, or technologically challenging including manufacturing, mining, power and energy, real estate, transportation and storage, agriculture, and information technology.

Saudi Energy signs Expo 2030 deal
Saudi Energy has signed an agreement with Expo 2030 Riyadh to deliver electricity supplies to the World Expo event site in Riyadh. The agreement covers the delivery of electricity supplies to the Expo 2030 Riyadh site in accordance with the highest technical and operational specifications. It also includes developing the required electricity infrastructure, including constructing and connecting the necessary grid facilities to provide highly reliable and efficient electricity supplies.
Abu Dhabi DoE expands US cooperation
The Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi (DoE) has signed a series of MoUs with partners during an official visit to the US, strengthening cooperation on the future of the emirate’s energy and water sectors. The agreements cover regulatory cooperation, Ai, advanced technology and innovative applications aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening the resilience of critical energy and water infrastructure.
