PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Jafurah basin hosts the largest liquid-rich shale gas play in the Middle East, with an estimated 200 trillion cu ft (tcf) of gas. This shale play covers an area measuring 17,000 sq km. Riyas NGL Fractionation is a new grassroots facility which will fractionate C2+ feed from upstream gas processing facilities and send the products to downstream customers. The project is part of Phase 2 of the Jafurah field development.

PROJECT SCOPE

The project scope involves a new grassroots facility which will fractionate C2+ feed from upstream gas processing facilities and send the products to downstream customers.

The engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning of two NGL fractionation trains, with a capacity of 255,000 barrels a day each, including de-ethaniser, de-propaniser, de-butaniser, reid vapour pressure and de-colouriser systems; propane and butane merox; caustic regeneration; propane and butane dehydration; and spent caustic treatment unit, including thermal oxidisation, etc.

PROJECT STATUS

As of August 2026, the nitrogen generation skid package has been assigned to Petron Saudi. In July,

Ampo Poyam was awarded a contract to supply the project with cryogenic and non-cryogenic gate valves.

Saudi Aramco is the project client.
