Global Bioeconomy Summit to focus on sustainable development

The Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026 will bring together policymakers, industry representatives, researchers and other stakeholders to discuss developments in building a sustainable and circular global bioeconomy.

It will take place on October20–21, at the Convention Centre Dublin.

Co-hosted by the International Advisory Council for the Global Bioeconomy (IACGB), Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), and Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE), the summit is expected to attract significant international participation.

More than 900 registrations had been recorded as of September 14.

The programme will feature five plenary sessions covering multi-dimensional innovation, bioeconomy solutions for global crises, policies and markets for scaling biobased solutions, European and Irish bioeconomy strategies, and a forward-looking Bioeconomy Vision 2040.

The main summit will be preceded by 20 satellite activities on October 19, offering focused discussions and networking opportunities around specific bioeconomy themes. Eight site visits on 22 October will allow international delegates to see practical examples of Ireland’s bioeconomy across the country.

An exhibition hall will showcase bio-based innovations, technologies and solutions from Irish and international organisations, research initiatives and businesses.

The event will also provide opportunities for knowledge exchange and international collaboration across policy, research, industry and civil society.

The summit will highlight the role of the bioeconomy in areas including agri-food transformation, rural development, food and energy security, climate action, circular economy approaches, and research and innovation.

It will also provide Ireland with an opportunity to present its developing bioeconomy and research capabilities to an international audience.
