Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) and Wison New Energies have signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDP) to pioneer the next generation of smart floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) systems.
The strategic partnership will leverage artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and structural hull monitoring to accelerate the digitalisation and green transformation of offshore engineering equipment.
FPSOs remain central to global offshore oil and gas development, but face growing demands for both efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Through this collaboration, Wison New Energies and BV will explore how AI can be embedded into FPSO operations to enable intelligent decision-making systems, real-time monitoring of equipment, early fault detection and optimised energy management.
These advancements are expected to significantly improve operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Decarbonisation lies at the heart of the agreement.
By combining AI with clean energy integration solutions, the project aims to reduce carbon intensity and advance the development of high-efficiency, low-carbon FPSOs aligned with global dual-carbon goals.
The signing of this JDP underlines Wison New Energies’ commitment to advancing intelligent and sustainable offshore equipment, while reinforcing BV’s role as a leader in shaping regulations, certification and technical services for innovative offshore assets.
By leveraging respective expertise in advanced engineering capabilities and global standard-setting, the two organisations will also collaborate on the development of technical standards for smart FPSOs, delivering transformative solutions for the offshore energy industry worldwide.
Matthieu de Tugny, Executive Vice President, Industrials and Commodities at Bureau Veritas, said: “The partnership is expected to set a new benchmark for the industry by driving the large-scale application of artificial intelligence and green technologies in offshore engineering. Through this collaboration, Wison New Energies and BV aim to usher in a new era of intelligent and sustainable FPSO development.” -OGN/ TradeArabia News Service
