Turkey’s state-owned energy company BOTAS has signed a memorandum of understanding with Italian energy firm Edison to explore potential cooperation opportunities in natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG), the companies said.

Under the agreement, the two sides will assess opportunities for natural gas and LNG supply, as well as potential joint commercial ventures, BOTAS said in a statement.

The deal also provides for the establishment of a joint working group to examine the technical, commercial and regulatory aspects of a possible hydrogen-compatible natural gas interconnector between Turkey and Italy.

BOTAS said the strategic partnership with Edison is expected to contribute significantly to the development of energy ties between Turkey and Italy, strengthen connectivity across the Mediterranean basin, and support regional energy supply security. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
