QatarEnergy said an operational incident during the start-up of operations at Ras Laffan Industrial City triggered an explosion and fire at the Barzan local gas supply facility on the evening of June 21.

The company said emergency response teams were deployed immediately following the incident and successfully contained the fire, which is now under control.

The Barzan facility is part of Qatar's natural gas infrastructure and is located within Ras Laffan Industrial City, one of the world's largest energy and industrial hubs. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
