Italy’s electricity generation mix shifted in 2025, with renewable energy output falling by 1.5 per cent while thermal power generation increased by 5.2 per cent, contributing to a 2.4 per cent rise in overall electricity production, according to a report by the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (ARERA).
The report also showed that natural gas consumption rose by
2 per cent compared with the previous year.
Gas imports increased significantly, driven by a doubling of
supplies from the United States and higher imports from Norway and the
Netherlands.
Meanwhile, liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports surged 44 per
cent year-on-year, accounting for around one-third of Italy’s total gas
imports. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
