Blue Ocean Decom, a new specialist subsea removal and decommissioning company, has launched with ambitions to expand internationally, naming the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and the UK as its key growth markets.
The company is backed by offshore industry veteran Alfie
Cheyne, founder of several successful international service businesses
including ACE Winches, while day-to-day operations are led by Managing Director
Ross Anderson, who has extensive experience delivering offshore decommissioning
projects worldwide, including in the Middle East.
Blue Ocean Decom has been established to meet rising demand
for specialist decommissioning services as ageing offshore energy
infrastructure and stricter regulatory requirements drive increased removal
activity.
Operators are seeking partners capable of delivering
engineered decommissioning solutions, tailored equipment packages and
experienced personnel to execute complex subsea removal projects safely and
efficiently.
The company specialises exclusively in offshore
decommissioning, offering services covering platform and well cutting, subsea
pipeline and riser removal, seabed preparation and clearance, and subsea asset
recovery.
Its approach combines advanced engineering with customised
project solutions supported by strategically positioned equipment and personnel
across major global hubs to enable rapid mobilisation.
Blue Ocean Decom said growing regulatory scrutiny,
environmental expectations and the need for greater project certainty have
transformed decommissioning from a late-stage operational obligation into a
strategic industry priority.
The company aims to help operators return offshore sites to
safe, compliant conditions by removing redundant infrastructure efficiently
while minimising environmental impact.
With dedicated expertise and a global delivery model, Blue
Ocean Decom plans to support the increasing volume of offshore decommissioning
projects expected across major energy-producing regions.
Cheyne said:
"I've spent my career backing and building specialist service businesses
in the offshore sector, and the pattern is always the same: the market rewards
focus. As decommissioning activity grows, subsea removal deserves the same
level of specialist attention as any other critical path discipline. That's the
gap Blue Ocean Decom has been built to fill, with Ross leading a team whose
entire attention is on doing this one thing extremely well."
Anderson added: "The subsea removal phase is a defining element of any decommissioning campaign, influencing safety, schedule and overall project performance. As the industry scales up, it needs partners who treat this scope with the focus and precision it demands. That's exactly the focus we've built this business around. A dedicated decommissioning partner to operators and Tier 1 contractors fits where the industry is heading. We've built this company to be exactly that." -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
