KBR has been awarded a project management consultancy (PMC) contract by Power2X for its eFuels project in Rotterdam, a major initiative aimed at accelerating Europe's transition to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Under the agreement, KBR will provide project management
services during the front-end engineering design (FEED) and execution phases,
covering cost, schedule, quality and safety management.
The project is expected to produce more than 250,000 tonnes
of synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) annually, representing nearly 40
per cent of the production required under the first phase of the European
Union's ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation between 2030 and 2032.
It is expected to become one of Europe's largest eFuels
facilities and a key investment in Rotterdam's petrochemical sector.
Power2X said the project will help reduce dependence on
fossil-based jet fuel, support decarbonisation goals and contribute to scaling
e-SAF production while lowering costs over time.
“KBR is proud to support Power2X for the landmark eFuels
project in Rotterdam, which will drive the advancement of SAF production in
Europe,” said Jay Ibrahim, President, KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions.
“With our extensive track record in executing large-scale industrial projects,
we are committed to leveraging our integrated delivery approach and technical
expertise with the purpose of delivering this facility safely, efficiently, and
to European standards, contributing to Europe’s clean aviation goals.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
