Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Abdullah Al Messabi, CEO of Adnoc Drilling, to discuss strategic cooperation and the company’s potential role in Egypt’s expanded onshore and offshore drilling programme.

Badawi said increasing drilling activity is central to Egypt’s five-year plan to raise domestic oil and gas production.

The strategy focuses on intensifying exploration, accelerating the development of discoveries, increasing drilling rates and adopting advanced technologies.

He highlighted Adnoc Drilling’s technical expertise and experience, noting that its capabilities could support Egypt’s production and development objectives.

Badawi also pointed to Egypt’s growing drilling opportunities as a platform for new partnerships with regional and international oilfield-services companies.

Al Messabi said Adnoc Drilling is keen to strengthen its presence in Egypt and develop partnerships with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and its subsidiaries.

He also highlighted the importance of cooperation with Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), recognising its extensive experience in drilling oil and gas wells in Egypt and overseas.

The two sides are expected to hold technical meetings soon to assess cooperation opportunities and determine Adnoc Drilling’s potential participation in Egypt’s targeted drilling programme. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
