GreenIT starts production at 19 MW of solar parks in Italy

GreenIT, a joint venture between Plenitude and CDP Equity, has started production at two solar parks in Italy’s Piedmont region, located in the provinces of Vercelli and Alessandria.

The facilities have a combined installed capacity of about 19 MW and are expected to generate approximately 30 GWh of electricity annually.

The projects feature around 32,000 high-efficiency bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis tracking systems to optimise energy generation throughout the day.

Developed on former extraction sites that were subsequently remediated, the projects have transformed the areas into renewable energy hubs while supporting local redevelopment.

GreenIT said the start of production marks an important step in its solar-sector expansion, with more than 300 MW of projects currently at an advanced development stage.

The company also has solar plants totalling around 30 MW under construction in Campania and Piedmont, which are expected to begin operations between late 2026 and early 2027.

Paolo Bellucci, Chief Executive Officer of GreenIT, commented: “The commissioning of these two plants marks an important step in GreenIT’s growth journey and reinforces our ambition to become one of Italy’s leading operators in the solar and wind energy sector. This achievement demonstrates our tangible commitment to expanding renewable energy generation and supporting the country’s energy transition pathway.” -OGNTradeArabia News Service
