India's Megha Engineering & Infrastructures has secured a KD117 million ($379 million) contract from Kuwait Oil Company for the development of a separation unit at its key Gathering Centre 25 (GC-25) and a Water Injection Facility at Gathering Centre 30 (GC-30) in Kuwait.

The project forms part of KOC’s upstream infrastructure development program and involves the construction of new processing and water-treatment facilities at GC-25 and GC-30, together with connecting pipelines, tie-ins, utilities and associated infrastructure.

At GC-25, the Indian engineering major's scope of work includes the development of a new three-phase low-pressure wet separation facility, including two 150 MBLPD wet separator packages, an LP gas knock-out drum with a capacity of 53 MMSCFD, and associated gas handling facilities.

At GC-30, the work involves the development of a treated-water filtration and high-pressure injection system. The scope includes nutshell filters and associated feed pumps with a total capacity of 500,000 barrels of water per day, together with booster and injection pumps for transferring treated effluent water to designated injection wells.

The project scope also includes fuel gas treatment, sludge collection and disposal facilities, oil recovery systems, control and safety systems, substations, laboratory and workshop facilities, and associated civil, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works.

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures said it clinched the award from KOC following its submission of the lowest bid for the project during the tender process in November last year. 

Its responsibilities encompass the design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing of the facilities. The contract scope also includes operation, maintenance, repair and insurance responsibilities for the designated facilities during the applicable operation and maintenance period.

The contract win strengthens MEIL’s presence in Kuwait’s upstream oil and gas sector and adds another major project to its portfolio supporting the development and modernization of KOC’s gathering, separation, water-treatment and injection infrastructure, it added.

According to KOC, the facility will also include an effluent water treatment and transfer system, comprising an effluent water balance tank with micro-bubble flotation/induced gas flotation systems and transfer pumps. 

Additional facilities include fuel gas treatment, chemical injection systems, oil recovery systems, flare connections, firewater and deluge systems, control and safety systems, substations, and associated civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works.

The project additionally covers transfer pipelines between GC-25, GC-15 and GC-30, modifications to existing tanks at GC-30, process and utility tie-ins, electrical and instrumentation modifications, and related infrastructure required to integrate the new facilities with KOC’s existing assets, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
