Russia’s total gas production rose 3.4 per cent year-on-year to 446.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) in the first eight months of 2026, according to federal statistics service Rosstat, TASS reported.

Natural gas output increased 3.8 per cent to 379 bcm, while August production reached 41.3 bcm, up 1.1 per cent from a year earlier and 4.5 per cent from July.

LNG production recorded stronger growth, climbing 13.7 per cent year-on-year to 23.1 million tonnes during January-August.

August LNG output rose 29.7 per cent from the same month in 2025 to 2.5 million tonnes. Associated petroleum gas production edged down 0.1 per cent to 67.5 bcm.

Russia’s total gas output fell 3 per cent in 2025 to 663.3 bcm.

The Economic Development Ministry forecasts production will reach 688.4 bcm in 2026, 711.3 bcm in 2027 and 731.9 bcm in 2028.

The International Energy Agency expects 2026 output to rise 3 per cent to 683 bcm.
