Global utility major Acwa Power has announced that it has received notices from Sidra First Electricity Company in Madinah and Qudra First Electricity Company in Qassim confirming the issuance of initial commercial operation certificates for the key units of its Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCGT) projects - Taiba 1 and Qassim 1.

The initial generating capacity of Taiba 1 is 1,272MW, compared with the project's total capacity of 1,934 MW. Qassim 1 has an initial generating capacity of 1,283MW, out of a total capacity of 1,896MW, said Acwa Power in its filing to Saudi bourse Tadawul.

Acwa Power owns a 40% stake in each of Sidra First Electricity Co. and Qudra First Electricity Company.

The financial impact of the initial commercial operations of the two projects is likely to begin in Q4, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
