Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” LINE) has delivered Puteri Kelantan, a newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for Petronas LNG (PLL), at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China.

The vessel, delivered on September 24, 2026, is owned by a joint venture led by “K” LINE and is the third vessel of the same type delivered for PLL this year, following two ships delivered in May and June.

A naming ceremony was held on September 2, attended by representatives from PLL, the shipyard, financier Bank of Communications Financial Leasing, China Merchants Energy Shipping, China Merchants Financial Leasing and “K” LINE.

A sister vessel, Puteri Negeri Sembilan, was named during the same ceremony and is scheduled for delivery in November 2026.

“Puteri” means princess in Malay, while Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan are states in Peninsular Malaysia.

The two vessels are expected to strengthen PLL’s fleet and support reliable LNG deliveries to its customers.

“K” LINE has identified LNG as a priority area for future investment under its Medium-Term Management Plan, published in May 2022.

The company said it will continue expanding long-term contracts and responding to growing energy demand by addressing customers’ diverse requirements. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
