Reazn, a specialist in recycled zinc, plans to deploy Revcoo’s CarbonCloud CO2 capture technology at its Kruisem plant in East Flanders, Belgium, with the system designed to capture up to 8,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

The project will begin with a joint technical and economic feasibility study before potentially moving to engineering work for the first-of-a-kind installation.

Subject to successful results, the framework agreement targets deployment at the site by the end of 2028.

CarbonCloud separates CO2 from other flue gases by freezing it and then conditioning the captured gas in liquid or gaseous form.

The technology is described as non-toxic, solvent-free, waste-free, water-free and fully electric.

Captured CO2 is expected to have a guaranteed purity of 99.99 per cent and can be containerised for transport, utilisation or sequestration independently of future CO2 infrastructure.

Reazn’s Kruisem facility produces zinc alloys while seeking to reduce waste and energy consumption.

The proposed capture system would have an estimated capacity of 5,000 to 8,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Revcoo said CarbonCloud is designed for industrial companies facing carbon-related regulatory requirements and pressure to decarbonise.

The company is expanding the technology beyond lime and cement into metals, an energy-intensive sector.
