Eni has signed an agreement with Italian deep-tech company Generative Bionics to explore potential technological and industrialative Bionics’ expertise in humanoid robotic systems, including its GENE.01 platform.
Joint workstreams will assess potential applications
humanoid robots within Eni’s industrial and operational environments,
particularly for inspection, teleoperation, remote assistance and activities in
complex or potentially hazardous settings.
The companies will collaboration in advanced robotics,
focusing on the development and application of humanoid robots powered by
Physical AI.
The agreement combines Eni’s industrial, technological and
high-performance computing capabilities with Generative Bionics’ expertise in
humanoid robotic systems, including its GENE.01 platform.
Joint workstreams
will assess potential applications, conduct testing and evaluate opportunities
for industrial development.
A key focus will be identifying uses for humanoid robots
within Eni’s industrial and operational environments, particularly for
inspection, teleoperation, remote assistance and activities in complex or
potentially hazardous settings.
The companies will assess how robotics could improve
workplace safety and operational efficiency.
The partnership will also explore new materials and
components for humanoid robots, drawing on the capabilities of Eni’s chemicals
business, Versalis.
Particular attention
will be given to the evolution of GENE.01’s foot and footwear system, with the
goal of developing lighter, stronger and scalable solutions that improve impact
absorption, grip, durability and assembly.
Versalis company Finproject, which specialises in
ultra-lightweight products, could contribute to the development of these
solutions.
The partners will also examine opportunities to
industrialise and commercialise Generative Bionics’ sensor-equipped footwear
using Eni’s materials, expertise and market channels.
Eni will assess whether its industrial facilities could
support future production, assembly and testing of advanced robotics.
Potential cooperation could also cover battery use, disposal
and recycling throughout the robots’ production lifecycle.
Another area of potential cooperation involves Eni’s High
Performance Computing capabilities, which could support the development,
training and validation of Physical AI models for humanoid robots.
The agreement follows Eni’s investment in Generative Bionics
through its venture capital arm, Eni Next, in December 2025.
It forms part of Eni’s broader open innovation strategy and
focus on technological development as a driver of industrial competitiveness.
For Generative Bionics, the agreement represents a step
towards industrialising GENE.01 by combining its humanoid robotics and Physical
AI expertise with Eni’s capabilities in materials, computing and industrial
processes.
The collaboration is expected to support testing and
validation of the technology in real-world operating environments. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
