Bahrain urges closer GCC alignment on oil, energy policies

Bahrain’s Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Bin Dinah, stressed the importance of closer GCC coordination on oil and energy policies to safeguard global energy security and market stability amid rapid economic, technological and geopolitical changes.

Dr. Bin Dinah chaired the 37th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Petroleum Cooperation Committee in Bahrain, attended by GCC energy ministers and GCC Secretary General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi.

He said hosting the meeting in Bahrain reflects the strong ties between GCC countries and their leaders’ support for greater cooperation, particularly in the oil and energy sector.

The minister also highlighted the GCC’s efforts to prepare the energy sector for global changes by supporting innovation and adopting modern and clean technologies.

He stressed the need to balance economic growth and sustainable development with climate and environmental considerations while strengthening the sector’s competitiveness and resilience.

The meeting reviewed key areas of regional cooperation, including energy strategy, energy security, a fair and balanced transition and the regional emergency plan for petroleum products.

Ministers also discussed European legislation and cross-border measures affecting the energy sector, as well as trade and foreign trade issues. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
